Van Cliburn International Competition Gold Medalist

Wednesday, October 5
8 pm, Campbell Hall

“Kobrin, with a prodigious technique [and] rich tone...had ‘winner’ stamped on him throughout the finals.”
Baltimore Sun

A special solo recital by 25-year-old Russian Alexander Kobrin, the 2005 Van Cliburn Gold Medal winner. Once every four years a select few pianists emerge from the thrill of one of the most important musical competitions in the world, judged by some of the premier classical artists of our time. The Cliburn contest includes among its laureates Radu Lupu, Cécile Ousset and Christopher O’Reilly. Don’t miss the champion of a competition the Toronto Star calls “the launching pad for many a professional career.”
