Ronald K. Brown—choreographer for some of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s most triumphant recent works—has created a unique movement language for his company Evidence, influenced by the fast paced, rhythmic movements of Africa. His dancers’ powerful and magnetic physical presence is breathtaking. The Washington Post praises the group’s “exquisitely sculpted movement [which] springs from a deep well of spiritual urgency.” The program is set to music by Nina Simone, Oumou Sangare, Fela Kuti and Duke Ellington.
