The spirited Aulos, one of the first American “original instrument” ensembles, will be joined by soprano Julianne Baird, for a special Baroque Christmas concert they perform annually at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Their program features traditional carols, instrumental noëls, cantatas and arias of Bach and Scarlatti. The San Francisco Examiner called one Aulos concert “the most exhilarating examples of Baroque playing these ears have heard,” while the Houston Chronicle champions Julianne Baird’s “pure tone and exquisite musicianship.”
