Juilliard String Quartet

Sunday, October 3
2 pm, Montecito Country Club

For over 50 years, the Juilliard String Quartet has been internationally renowned for performances that are characterized by clarity of structure, beauty of sound, plasticity of line, compelling rhythmic drive and unanimity of purpose. Their program for this concert includes the Bartok Quartet No. 3 and Mozart’s Quartet in D Major, K.499, “Hoffmeister.”

As part of this special Chamber Music in Historic Sites® concert and residency, members of the quartet will conduct master classes at UCSB and in Santa Barbara and Ventura. Jon Newsom, Chief of the Music Division of the Library of Congress, will bring several rare music manuscripts to Santa Barbara, including original works by Mozart and Beethoven. Details about observing the classes and viewing the manuscripts will be available in our Fall Calendar.

Performances and educational programs offered by the Juilliard String Quartet at UCSB and the Walt Disney Concert Hall at the L.A. Music Center are presented in partnership with the Library of Congress and are made possible through the generosity of Jon & Lillian Lovelace.
