Three spectacularly talented jazzmen—pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonist Michael Brecker and trumpeter Roy Hargrove—lead a quintet formed to honor the genius of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Their 2003 CD was a Grammy Award Winner and instant classic. The group’s moniker, taken from the subtitle of the pivotal Davis album Nefertiti, suggests their deep musicality, daring and sheer excitement.
