The Newport Jazz Festival has signified jazz excellence for more than 40 years. Consistent with this illustrious history, the touring artists of Newport Jazz® 2002 represent a virtual pantheon of jazz immortals playing alongside rising young stars. Grammy-winning tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano anchors a distinguished roster of today’s best contemporary, traditional and Latin jazz musicians, including Grammy-winning trumpeter Terence Blanchard, legendary pianist and composer Cedar Walton, and Latin saxophonist Justo Almario.
