“So rich in details and variety that one might have thought
an entire orchestra was playing.”
—The Washington Post
Lauded for its elegant lyricism and expressiveness, the Borromeo String Quartet will perform music by Mozart and Beethoven plus the world premiere of a new work by UCSB composer Michael Ellison. Formed in 1989 by four young musicians from the Curtis Institute of Music, this exceptional ensemble has established itself as one of the most important string quartets performing today. Recipient in 1998 of Chamber Music America’s prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award, the Boston-based Borromeo is the Quartet-in-Residence at the New England Conservatory of Music.
