33 Fainting Spells
Dance from Seattle’s Cutting Edge
Maria the Storm Cloud
Wednesday, January 27

Gripping, complex and full of fantasy, 33 Fainting Spells create dance that is altogether new.
—Frankfurter Rundschau

Seattle’s revolutionary art scene gave rise to this gifted company in 1994. Since then, they’ve earned a unique reputation for acidic wit, fearless and inexhaustible athleticism, an arresting use of props and dramatic staging. Named for the number of fainting spells in three Anton Chekhov stories, the trio portrays the ironic: they teeter on table edges; turn ladders into tightropes; recover from daring falls with springy leaps; and tango with household objects. Set to original music for cello and piano, their newest work explores romance and longing.
