El Teatro de la Esperanza
Ruby Nelda Perez in
Doña Rosita’s Jalapeño Kitchen

Tuesday, November 17

Superbly crafted, outrageously funny and highly poignant.
—San Antonio Express-News

This amusing and spirited solo work—starring one of the finest Chicana actors and comedians—takes place when Rosita invites the audience to a “last supper” as she considers selling her restaurant to make way for a shopping center. Sharply written and directed by Rodrigo Duarte-Clark, who co-founded El Teatro de la Esperanza here in Santa Barbara in 1971.

General public: $14/$17/$20
Students: $12/$14/$16

Li Chiao-Ping
The Men’s Project, Dances by 6 Contemporary Choreographers

Saturday, November 21

She moves intensely, combining strength and obvious muscularity with remarkable balance and gracefulness.
—The Village Voice

A taut, risk-taking dancer influenced by gymnastics and martial arts, Li Chiao-Ping fills the stage with her generous, graceful movement. In a sampling of U.S. contemporary dance, she’ll perform works created for her by Mark Dendy, David Dorfman, Joe Goode, Daniel Nagrin, Gus Solomons, Jr. and Mel Wong.

General public: $14/$17/$20
Students: 12/$14/$16
