Among the finest talent in international folk music, three gifted women and their bands make this concert a must-see. Though her career began in 1970, Afro-Peruvian singer Susana Baca came to international attention with a release on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label in 1995. Stella Chiweshe, a leading mbira (thumb piano) player and singer from Zimbabwe, incorporates pop sounds into her music. And favorite Tejana guitarist-singer Tish Hinojosa returns with her ravishing voice and her appealing bilingual, bicultural mix.
